Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Folwell Committee for N.C. Treasurer announced today that Dale R. Folwell, CPA, has been endorsed in his candidacy for North Carolina Treasurer by the North Carolina Troopers Association.
The North Carolina Treasurer manages the state’s $90 billion pension plan and state employees’ health care plan. Prior to this latest endorsement, Folwell has also been endorsed by numerous other statewide employee and law enforcement organizations as the “Keeper of the Public Purse.”
The North Carolina Troopers Association is made up of more than two thousand active and retired Highway Patrol employees. It was formed in 1977 to advance the principles of proper law enforcement and support the betterment of our criminal justice system.
“The North Carolina Troopers Association is proud to announce our official endorsement of Dale Folwell for North Carolina State Treasurer, said Danny Jenkins, president of the North Carolina Troopers Association. “Our Association strongly feels that Dale is the most qualified candidate for many reasons. During his career Dale has served in the State House for four terms and was instrumental in passing legislation that supports law enforcement. Dale is also a Certified Public Accountant.
“Dale Folwell respects the sacrifices that are made by Troopers and other Law Enforcement officers,” Jenkins continued. “He also understands the dangers that we face each day so that our citizens can live in peace and safety. Dale has taken the time to regularly meet with our association to discuss issues that are important to Troopers. In addition, he led the effort that allowed our State to pay back $2.7 billion to the federal government for unemployment debt and turned that into a $1 billion for the unemployment trust fund. Our Association is confident that Dale Folwell will properly preserve, strengthen and manage our retirement and healthcare systems. He will eliminate waste, fraud and abuse to ensure the longevity of our retirement system. Dale will protect and preserve our State's AAA bond rating.
"North Carolina Troopers risk their lives each day for North Carolinians,” Folwell said. “With all the issues facing law enforcement, the last two things they need to worry about is the safety and security of their pension and healthcare. I am proud to receive the endorsement of the North Carolina Troopers Association and can’t imagine being the next NC Treasurer without their input.”
